Ulrich Lang New York is a pioneering niche house that's been around for over 20 years. Founder Ulrich Lang, or Uli, as his friends call him, has a background in the art- and the beauty industries, laying the foundation for his perfume house, Ulrich Lang New York.

Ulrich Lang New York was the first niche perfume house recognized for integrating fragrance with photography. A photo accompanies each scent and serves as inspiration and reinforcement for the fragrance. This becomes a way to convey the essence of the fragrance, all the way from the development of the fragrance itself to its packaging.

Ulrich divides his time between New York and Germany – places where he finds much of his inspiration. The world of perfume has always been a part of his life, as his grandmother had a perfumery where he grew up. It allowed him to train his nose and become versed in perfume art. His grandmother is also responsible for one of his earliest scent memories – the scent of her homemade plum compote.

Specific fragrance notes are often the starting point in Ulirch's creative process, where he explores notes he has always been curious about or a note he is particularly fascinated by at the moment. According to him, floral notes are particularly underrated, and he mentions freesia and lily as examples of this. If he were to describe himself as a note, it would be cedar – a note found in many of the house's fragrances.
